Morning sounds woke me up quite early. Despite my nerves, I was so exhausted that I fell asleep as soon as my head touched the pillow, but my sleep was not good and I felt weary. The first glance on the mirror of the bathroom showed me a face hardly recognizable as me. I looked awful, gaunt and sleepy, with two marked bags under my eyes and my hair all messy, but it was ok. Nothing a good shower couldn't cure. When I finished, the others were already waking up and packing their stuff. The plan was first to go for a walk around a beautiful lake and then to hike up to a mountain. Actually I couldn't care less about what the plan was. Anything was fine for me as long as he was taking part on it. We were going to meet in the parking lot close to the lake, so I hurried up preparing my bag and having breakfast. The sooner the better.
We were there right in time. The others were asking me things and talking on the way, but I didn't participate much, sunk in my own thoughts about how the meeting was going to be. The last time I wasn't very friendly with him, neither was I in the previous one. Somehow, he had the ability to upset me with every second word he said, always making jokes about serious stuff, for instance my country or my city. The problem is, I can't just walk away and ignore him, and trust me, I've tried.
These thoughts made me angry. If I wasn't friendly with him last time was just his fault, and I shouldn't been feeling guilty about it. So I decided to put a sulking face, but it didn't matter, because they were late and weren't there, and I couldn't hide my disappointment. I had to control myself, or my friends would start to suspect, so I just tried to conceal my anguish and look cool, joining the conversation while keeping an eye on the road.
After some minutes that seemed ages, the blue car appeared over the entrance and moved towards us, and there he was, in the copilot seat, wearing sunglasses. They parked besides us and stepped out of the car, greeting all the others. I went there, waiting for my turn, trying to shut unsuccessfully my usual crooked smile. And there it was, the moment I dreamed with, he in front of me. He looked totally different. His hair was shorter, tough as entangled as ever. His skin wasn't anymore pale, but tanned. He was, definitely, looking better than ever. And then, suddenly, he hugged me, and that was exactly as I remembered, the best hug I ever got. However, when I was closing my eyes to enjoy it as much as possible, he just moved away, quickly and unexpectedly. Was he still mad at me for the last encounters? Or was it just that I was behaving silly and he didn't have anymore those stupid feelings like the ones arousing inside me? I had to remind myself that I had no heart. I was being stupid, lowering my shields and letting the emotions fill me. Of course he wasn't feeling a thing. And neither should I, so from there onwards I was going to be more careful, and again, anger started to wash over me, tough if t was against me or him, I couldn't tell.
